Chicken Spaghetti

This morning's cutting--half already
out on the chicken "plate" and half left for tomorrow

It takes a strong wind to open the door. Twice this morning my back one has given in as the blustery freshness of spring gushed through the house. Winds like this when rain is forecast make me think it will come down hard soon, so I'm in a bit of a hurry.  My neighbor's back yard is three to six inches deep in chicken spaghetti, and if I don't mow it off the Things I get to do today soon, it will be have wait for another day when the grass (chicken spaghetti) is dry enough to cut at that height.

"You just slurp it in like this."
Tastes better
when you stand in the middle of it

Nora, Lena, Latifah and Nina get their share as well, all the better when it is cut and piled on the chicken "plate."  They do, indeed, gobble it up.  Simple, sweet, and satisfying all around.

  1. your ladies are beautiful! I know how much they love the grass! I can't wait to get me some more chickens and fresh eggs. BTW, how many yolks were in that very large egg?

    1. Got your message regardless of the "booting" you received. The big egg had two normal sized yokes and about 1 1/2 whites. It qualified as two, easily.

You'll love getting your own girls. Do you have immediate plans? If not, make some. Get that chicken ball rollings. Bliss is on the way!

  2. Wow I'm so jealous you have chickens! That is a bucket list thing for me. They are just beauties, can I ask what kind they are? She looks like she is loving her green spaghetti :) Thank you for the sweet comment and linking up!

    1. The sweet one sucking in the grass is a Barred Rock (Katy Perry Chicken). My other girls: Black Australorp (Nina Simone), Gold Laced Wyandotte (Latifah), Partridge Wyandotte (Lena Horne) and a Silver Pencil Rock (Nora Jones). I love my hens--singers, all of them.

Can you have hens where you live?

    2. Not right now unfortunately, but we're moving in May and that's something we're considering for the new house!

    3. Perfect! That gives you a few months to envision the best setting and circumstances for your new flock. It takes just a few seconds each day to bask in the delicious idea--seeing yourself with your own hens--that will bring this wish into reality at just the right time after your move. Many blessings to you and your own lovely girls!
